This is not your typical yoga retreat, this journey will offer some unique opportunities, including an exclusive chance to dine with members of the former royal family and experience traditional tea ceremony.  We’ll take bike rides in the countryside, tour working silk farm and make your own silk lantern.   You’ll learn net-fishing skills, experience paddling the unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boat, discover interesting farming methods from a local farm family, study with Gigong Master’s, acquire authentic cooking skills, we'll do yoga, meditations, enjoy relaxing spa sessions and much much more.

Day 1/ March 04 (Sunday) Arrival Hanoi

Arrive in Hanoi airport, meet and a welcome greet by our guide, then transfer to our hotel. The rest of the
day is at leisure.

Day 2/ March 05 (Monday) Tay Phuong Pagoda – Hanoi’s Old Quarter (B,L,D)

We start the day off right with Kundalini Yoga
After breakfast, we will start tour to visit the 8th-century “Tay Phuong” Pagoda (Ancient Pagoda Of the
West) famous for its magnificent wooden Buddha statues. The mostly famous for the statues it contains;
Vajrapanis (Kim Cuong) and Arhats (La Han) who are middle-ranking Buddhist deities and particular
portrays Sakyamuni in meditation at the foot of Snow Mountain. All are impressive works of art. We
continue visit National Art Museum. Lunch will be served at Ngon Villa, an authentic Vietnamese
Restaurant. After lunch, visit the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, HoanKiem Lake and end with a
traditional cyclo ride through Hanoi'ʹs Old Quarter. Tonight we enjoy dinner at Le Tonkin Restaurant.

Day 3/ March 06 (Tuesday) Hanoi – Halong Bay (B,L,D)
 
We start the day off right with a Kundalini Yoga!!! 
 
After breakfast we will take a scenic drive to Halong and transfer by tender to the deluxe junk at Bai
Chay/Tuan Chau Island. Discover treasures such as fascinating caves, pristine beaches, picturesque floating
villages, and dramatic rock formations rising up out of emerald water as we sail across the Bay of the
Descending Dragon. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the boat with dinner onboard.

Day 4/ March 07 (Wednesday) Halong – Danang – Hoi an (B,D)

We start the day off right with Kundalini Yoga on Sundeck,or if you prefer there is a Tai Chi demonstration on the other Sundeck.  Enjoy a delightful buffet breakfast while sailing across thousands of islets. The cruise ends at Bai Chay/Tuan Chau late morning. Drive back to Hanoi.

Enjoy dinner with “crystal noodles “at Dai Viet Restaurant before going to the airport for late evening flight
to Danang. Arrive in Danang and transfer to hotel in Hoi An check-in.

Day 5/ March 8 (Thursday) Hoi An – Cam Thanh village – Tra Que Village (B,SL,D)
 
In the morning, joining 30-­minute yoga class to refresh your body and soul with local teacher.

After breakfast, we take a biking tour to Cam Thanh village; we will pass rice paddy fields and will have the
experience to learn methods of rice production. We will be amazed by the attractive characteristics of a
coconut house as well as water coconut and bamboo handcrafted furniture. You will also experience the
friendliness of the local people greeting you along the way. Later you will board the boat for a river cruise to
meet and engage with local fishermen and enjoy a hands-­‐‑on experience of traditional net fishing. You will
also experience paddling the unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boat; it will be an unforgettable experience.
Then visit and experience the daily activities of local farmers in Tra Que village. Lunch will be served at Tra
Que Garden. The chef of the restaurant will warmly welcome us.
 
Afternoon, take a walking tour along Hoi An’s waterfront from the Japanese Covered Bridge to the main
market, stop at the Ancient house Tan Ky, the ornate Fu Kien Chinese temple and continue down to Hoi An
local market. Tonight we enjoy dinner at a fabulous restaurant set in a lovely garden right by the river located
in the heart of Hoi An, Brother Café.

Day 6/ March 09 (Friday) Hoi An - Danang - Hue (B,L)
In the morning, joining 30-­minute yoga class to refresh your body and soul with local teacher.

After breakfast, we visit the Silk Village and discover the art of ancient silk weaving techniques perfected by
the Cham ethnic people in Quang Nam province. Witness the full cycle of silk making from silkworms to
finished product and learn the difference between natural silk and synthetic silk. We will take a silk lantern class and you can bring home your own creation. Lunch will be served in this charming village with an authentic Hoian cuisine menu. After lunch, we depart for Hue. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we travel over the spectacular Hai Van Pass. Arrive Hue and check-in hotel.

Day 7/ March 10 (Saturday) Hue – Full Day City Tour (B,L,SD)

Start the day off right Kundalini Yoga
 
After breakfast, drive to the outskirts of Hue visiting the surrounding countryside, passing peaceful streams and verdant rice paddies until you arrive at the small village of Thanh Toan – home to a legendary market. Learn more about the role of agriculture and spend time exploring the small town. Stop by the beautiful Thanh Toan covered bridge or simply soak up the atmosphere while sipping Vietnamese coffee at the village café. Then, drive to visit Thien Mu Pagoda. Lunch will be served at Ancient Space Restaurant.  After lunch, we visit the former Imperial Citadel, UNESCO World Heritage site. Tonight, enjoy a traditional tea ceremony and authentic Vietnamese dinner with the Tuyet Nguyen family, a distant branch of royal lineage. This special engagement is an opportunity to learn more about Vietnamese culture and traditional customs 
Day 8/ March 11 (Sunday) Hue – Meditation Retreat Center – Flight to Saigon (B,L,SD)

After breakfast, we check-out from hotel.  Then we, revel in a back -to-­nature feeling and rejuvenate yourself in the acclaimed meditation retreat center Cat Tuong Quan Zen House. Located in a secluded area of Thien An Hill complex in Hue, this traditional house has a beautiful, serene view of the pine forest. It is a sacred, peaceful retreat facility. The excellent and varied programs will definitely offer you the most memorable moments of your vacation.  We have warm welcome by local host. Following by the Qigong performance and introduction the architecture and the spiritual meaning of the Zen house. We start program by learning four movements of Gigong with Master. Then break time, enjoy brown rice tea with dried ginger jam at the Zen garden. One of our best experience will be the lesson how to spiritual retreat and meditation.
 
Lunch will be served with organic food and fresh vegetable picked from the garden. After lunch, we take ten minutes walking meditation and self hand massage with herbal cream. This program helps you to fine bliss in mind and body. After saying farewell to CTQ Zen House team and transfer to the airport for flight to Saigon. Arrive in Saigon. Receive a warm welcome from our guide and transfer to hotel check in.

Day 9/ March 12 (Monday) Saigon Culinary tour – City Tour (B,L,D)

Start the Day of with Kundalini Yoga
Today, we will join “Grain, by Luke Nguyen cooking class”. Grain studio has its own fresh market on site.You will take a hands-­on cooking class, preparing a 4-­course meal. Vietnamese cuisine will be demystified so you will gain a new found confidence that will inspire you to cook more at home. Lunch will be your own creation, prepared and served at the cooking class. It will be a great Vietnamese cultural and culinary experience. 

Afternoon, we have a walking tour including: the Opera House, City Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral and the
Central Post Office and visit Ben Thanh market. Today enjoy dinner at Hoa Tuc Restaurant,
a famous authentic Vietnamese restaurant in town. The rest of evening is free for your own activities.
Day 10/ March 13 (Tuesday) Saigon – Mekong Delta (B,L)

Kick Start the day, Kundalini Yoga 

Today, we drive to the rural town of Cai Be. Upon arrival, take a small boat and visit nearby villages,
stopping at local workshops where you will see how pop-­rice, rice paper, coconut candy and popcorn are
made. Then the boat takes us deeper into the countryside on smaller canals to Binh Hoa Phuoc Island to visit
the nursery garden. We have lunch at a local house and enjoy Southern Vietnamese folk music. After lunch,
boat ride to Vinh Long town and take a walking tour at the market before driving back to Saigon late
afternoon. Tonight we have a farewell dinner – buffet Gánh at Bong Sen restaurant.
Day 11/ March 14 (Wednesday) Saigon – Departure (B)

Start the day off right Kundalini Yoga with Guru Mitar

Morning is at leisure. Check out by noon. Transfer to the airport for flight to next destination.

Arrive in Phu Quoc, meet hotel representative and transfer to hotel check-­in. The rest of the day is free on
your own activities or relax at the beach.

Day 12/ Mar 15 (Thursday) Phu Quoc (B)

Today is free on your own activities. Tour excursions available at hotel additional fee: Snorkeling and fishing at Roi islet or Mong Tay islet. Or Visit Sao beach, one of the beautiful beaches of Phu Quoc Island with white sand and blue water where you can swim, sunbath and relax.

Day 13/ Mar 16 (Friday) Phu Quoc – Departure (B)
Today is free at leisure . Check out by noon. Transfer to the airport for flight Saigon connecting to US.

How do I book my domestic airfare for Vietnam?
As a part of your Vietnam journey you will get to experience both the beauty of the North as well as the South. In order to visit both parts of the country, there will be a one way domestic flight associated with this itinerary in the middle of the week. The cost will be approximately $300 (exact prices vary until booked). It is best if we book this flight for you, this way we can keep everyone on the same flight.  Please contact Kay for booking airline Kay@vexploretours.com 
What are the passport and visa requirements? 
Passports and Visas:  All passengers traveling internationally are required to have a passport that must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the conclusion of your trip. In addition to a valid passport, passengers are required to possess a valid visa. You are responsible for obtaining and for the payment of all visas and entry documents prior to travel.  
 
If you would like us to process Visa - $75 additional fee, please use Visa option at check out.

You can attempt an evisa by clicking here.  You will need a clear electronic copy of the data page of your passport, payment and a passport photo.  Please print your evisa and carry it with you. Please also email us a copy.

Processing will take at least 4 weeks and we urge you to begin this process as soon as possible.  

Do I need travel insurance?

Are any inoculations required? 

No shots are required at this time.  Of course we recommend that you be up to date on all of your vaccinations.  Any specific inoculation or health questions should be directed to your personal physician.

Will there be wifi? 

Absolutely.  All of our lux locations will have wifi available.

What will the weather be like? 

March conditions are at their very best with dry, bright weather expected along the entire length of the county.  However Mother Nature will do whatever Mother Nature wants to do, so be open!!! As this trip is a moveable from the north to the south, so is the weather.  In northern Vietnam you can expect a cooler temperature then Central to South, therefore brings layering options. Also note Vietnam is Tropical which can mean humidity which us Cali are not use to.  

How many people are expected on this retreat? 

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12 to 20 attendees is a general average. Please note maximum for this retreat 20.

What if I don't know anyone going on the Retreat?
You will be surrounded by a phenomenal group of like-minded people. A close knit, welcoming community will quickly develop and last beyond our time together!  If you are traveling alone, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to find a roommate for you, a single supplement will apply.
 
If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply $855 11 day/10.  For extension option to Phu Quoc add $175.00.

What if I've never done Kundalini Yoga?

All Levels Yoga are welcome. No previous experience is necessary. This is event is perfect for both the beginner, as well as the seasoned Kundalini yogi. If you practice from another school of yoga, we encourage you to come. You will take away gems that will benefit you in ways that go well beyond any one style of practice.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

On this adventure, yes, you will need to bring your own mat, and any additional props you may need.  You do not need an expensive yoga mat for this journey, we recommend you purchase a cheap one, that you could leave behind if you wanted.  

What else do I need to bring?

You will receive a packing list 30 days prior to departure.
