Back to School - Relearning through Yoga
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted, and depressed? Maybe you are anxious over what the future holds or are feeling stuck in a rut. If you aren’t feeling in touch with love, peace, joy, and happiness then maybe you should go back to school.
Don’t worry, this isn’t your typical back to school season. Traditional schools systems don’t teach us how to grapple with our inner life, or flow gracefully through all the experiences life throws our way. Life is too short to continue a path that doesn’t bring you happiness.
Take a moment to look at your life and identify the factors that leave you feeling emotionally, physically, or psychologically drained. Is there something you feel like is holding you back or do you keep putting off recognizing your true potential? If these feelings resonate with you, then maybe it is time to transform yourself starting from the inside. Imagine a school that teaches you about yourself, a school where you learn what makes you tick, and shows you how your own body works. Now think of what school would be like if it taught you not only how to nurture and love yourself, but also helped you learn compassion for others.
Instead of preconfigured curriculum and assignments; you are encouraged to learn self-reflection and to deepen your awareness. Image that school as a place where your learn how to face your fears and grow through the challenges of life, and explore deep within yourself for the tools to overcome.
Kundalini yoga school is school the way I wished school to be, a place you learn how to live life with ease and grace, and experience each moment with curiosity and love. You don’t have to commit years to becoming a yogi, nine months is all you need to start to feel renewed, transformed, and more in touch with who you truly are.
One of my favorite quotes, “You are very powerful, providing you know how powerful you are” by Yogi Bhajan teaches that the power is within you to change your life. If you are dissatisfied or if something is not serving your higher purpose, you have the power to change it.
Personally, I have been trained in both hatha Yoga school and Kundalini Yoga school. However, it was through the Kundalini yoga school that I learned tools to get me through this crazy fast-paced life.
For the first time, I learned how to relax and sleep deeply. I learned the best way to eat for my body type. I learned how to understand my emotions.
Most importantly, I learned how to stop listening to the voice saying “You can’t” and to awaken my higher consciousness. If this sounds right to you and you are ready to learn more, and take control of your own wellbeing, I highly recommend joining a teacher training program this back to school season.
Yoga studios around the world are starting their transformational programs here in the fall. After learning so much as a student, I am now a part of the team at Yoga West LA, and would be honored to have you in class. Yoga West LA, was the first studio opened in the west by the Master of Kundalini, Yogi Bhanjan, PhD.
